Following three thematic online events, we are pleased to invite you to the high-level conference ‘The role of regions and cities in delivering high quality apprenticeships for all’ on 3-4 June 2021. This online event is co-organised by the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in close cooperation with the European Association of Regional & Local Authorities for lifelong learning (EARLALL), the German delegation at the CoR, and the Basque Government.
Organised over two half days, the conference will invite the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmidt, and the President of the Committee of the Regions, Apostolos Tzitzikostas to a political dialogue, and welcome contributions from the Chair of the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC).
The two panel discussions will provide insights into how stakeholders at different levels can deliver high-quality apprenticeships for all, as well as explore the good practices implemented during the COVID-19 outbreak that are expected to remain after the pandemic. Through the thematic discussions, the event will also address several emerging topics in delivering high-quality apprenticeships including:
- Empowering adults through upskilling and reskilling
- Promoting the international dimension
- Mobilising local and regional actors
- Encouraging cross border cooperation
Organised under the umbrella of Pact of Skills, the conference will capitalise on the series of joint EAfA-CoR events and explore further the different areas in which regions and cities play a pivotal role in fostering apprenticeships. It will also provide the opportunity to announce the findings of the EAfA monitoring survey. The event will be translated into Italian, French, German, Portuguese, Greek and Spanish and aims to reach and engage broad and varied audiences.
